PRIVATE TUITION

Private tuition can have a really positive impact on a student's confidence in Mathematics.

A confident student is usually a very successful one and so one- to -one sessions can be a real boost.

In a one to one session it is possible to look at material beyond the confines of an examination board syllabus and really develop a love of mathematics through an inquisitive, investagative approach.

The teaching, usually at my office in Knowle or on - line (but can be anywhere in the world, so if you want tuition in a hot sunny place, let me know!)) gives ample opportunity to explore mathematical reasoning through the use of traditional methods as well as using up to date technology in the form of e-learning.

When Can Private Tuition Take Place?

Tuition on a private basis takes place on various days at various times. The slots after 4.00pm are reserved in the first instance for students in compulsory schooling, with Post 16 students being able to take the opportunity for day time slots. Tuition will usually take place at my office in the centre of Knowle but can be at the students home for an additional cost. Please ring if you have any questions regarding private tuition.

Can Special Assignments be Accommodated?

Quite simply, yes. Sometimes I may get a student who requires private tuition on a more regular basis than the normal weekly sessions. If I have any availability I will always try to help and may sometimes be able to offer slots outside of the normal bookings times. For national or international requests, intensive sessions can be accommodated in periods of up to four days in length and longer in our quiet periods of July/August. Prices for these tuitions will depend on location and can be discussed by contacting me

Is Private Tuition always one to one?

Actually no, strangely it's not. There are some occasions where it can be beneficial for a small group of students to work together because it enables further discussion of mathematical concepts. I am able to accommodate pairs and small groups when it is clear that a) the students are of a similar ability and b) they are working towards the same examinations. In such cases there is a discount on the normal individual price for tuition of 30% for a second student and 50% for a third.
